This has included server monitoring, software distribution, inventory and reporting. Most of my daily work recently has been using Solaris and involves using Shell scripts and Perl to manage large numbers of Windows, Unix and Linux servers.
I have been running a FreeBSD server for personal use for the last 12 years and various Linux distributions for the last 5 years. This started as a platform on which to test SMTP email and to learn C. I was implementing Microsoft Exchange at the time and learning C in the evenings at college. I am familiar with a variety of Open Source software including IPFW, Apache, CVS, Bind, KDE and Gnome.
My ideal job would involve a mix of systems administration, software implementation and server support using Linux, Unix and Windows.
A wide variety of PC hardware, predominantly Compaq servers with RAID arrays, but also including building PCs from individual components. Employment History
